Hologic Growth Tank

Introducing the Hologic Growth Tank, an initiative designed to spur top line revenue growth by encouraging entrepreneurial thinking throughout the organization. Loosely based on the "Shark Tank" TV show, this program provides a forum for Hologic employees to turn their creative ideas into funded programs to drive company growth.

  Now is the time.

Innovative thinking can come from anywhere in an organization. How many times have you thought "Wouldn't it be nice if we could offer our customers…," or "We could probably sell a lot more of these if we could reach this market," or "We would get a better response if we made it easier for our customers to…" Well, now is the time to turn your thoughts into action.

Every Hologic employee is encouraged to submit ideas about ways to drive incremental growth for the company. Up to $1 million in funding will be available to support the development and implementation of the best idea(s). It could be your idea! So start thinking about things the company can do to spur growth!

  Turn your idea into reality.

Here's how to have your idea considered: Put together the project proposal, which should include a description of the project, the capital investment and other resources required to fund the project, key milestones and timing and the expected return. The proposal should also identify the person generating the idea and the individual who would lead the project going forward.

Time is money - get started now!

Use the project proposal form to describe your idea. Email your completed form to growthtank@hologic.com.

CEO Steve MacMillan and his executive team will review the project proposals. The project(s) that have the most likelihood of contributing to revenue growth will be selected for funding. While cost reduction ideas are always encouraged, this program is focused on new, innovative ways to drive revenue growth.

The number of ideas selected will be dependent on the projected return and investment for each project. One larger idea could be funded or a handful of smaller projects could be selected. An executive sponsor will be assigned to each project selected in order to provide guidance and advice throughout the project lifecycle.

So be innovative and think growth! Submit your proposal by Friday, March 7, 2014. Winners will be announced at the Town Hall meeting in May.

Be a player in the Growth Tank!

Frequently Asked Questions

1.   Shouldn't the best revenue generating ideas have been funded through the budgeting process?
Hologic has indeed funded the top projects that will help our company succeed in the short and long term. This program is designed to be a quick (and fun) way to spark excitement to either bring back ideas that were rejected or cut and to bring forward completely new ideas that may be lurking in the creative minds of Hologic employees.
2.   Does this mean we are going to revisit the R&D pipeline?
We have no plans at this time to review the entire R&D pipeline. The overall pipeline will continue to be managed through the strategic planning and budgeting process.
3.   How many ideas will be funded?
Up to a $1 million for year one will be available to fund the top idea(s) that are selected from this process. The number of ideas actually funded is dependent on the proposed return and investment required for each idea. One larger idea could be funded or a handful of smaller projects could be selected. An executive sponsor will be assigned to each project selected in order to provide guidance and advice throughout the project lifecycle.
4.   What is the deadline for submitting project ideas?
Submissions will be accepted through Friday, March 7th.
5.   When will the winners be announced?
The submissions will be reviewed following the March 7th deadline and the winner(s) will be announced at the May Town Hall meeting.
